It seems plausible they just didn’t care enough and the fix actually was easy. After this long of it being slow, I don’t understand why it would coincidentally happen now other than a complacent blindspot being awoken.

I updated my client and startup still takes 15 seconds. Granted, my boot drive is a SATA3 Samsung 850 EVO, but 15 seconds is still much slower than any other program I have, even Adobe programs. So I don’t know if the update works universally for everyone or something went wrong.

The question is why did it take a meme to push Valve to fix its awful, decades old Steam loading time?

I’ve thought more about the dangers of artificial consciousness than you would expect.

I tried the video editor and photo editor. Lot’s of missing features, but to give them credit the project isn’t even a week old from initial release. I don’t even think effects work at all in the video editor. Then, GIF support is totally broken/missing in the photo editor. But the base structure is there, but right now they’re more like simple programs dressed up as complex programs because of the amount of broken or missing feaures.

I got a 1 TB SN850X for $90 a couple years ago for my game and page file drive. Also Patriot 2x8 5600 for like $80 in 2023. Very disappointing what has happened since then.
