This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while. If interoperability was mandated, so that users from Twitter or Facebook could leave to go to another platform and still be able to reach their followers/followees, all of the centralized power and wealth and influence that these tech overlords have (which we can mostly agree are bad) would dissolve away naturally.

Imagine if Yahoo was the only one allowed to send and receive email when Google mail came around. They would have fought for the same principle.
