A new incident response report from the Canadian Digital Media Research Network (CDMRN) identifies a coordinated network of 20 inauthentic YouTube channels targeting Albertan audiences with nearly 40 million views, exploiting real grievances to push narratives that normalize secession and even U.S.
I’m definitely a little late getting back to this party, but I never said that “I” hate Ottawa. I said that is the general sentiment in Alberta. “Ottawa” being the default slang to describe the Federal Government, as a commenter replied to you stating. Hopefully that clears some things up.
For some reason, the average Albertan has been brainwashed enough by decades of anti-Fed propaganda that nearly half the population here believes the federal government actively works against Alberta. That Alberta because of its vast resources gets snubbed non-stop and it’s the rest of Canada’s fault. They believe the province just writes cheques out to Quebec, and the rest of the country is stealing our money.
Though from my POV, opposition to the Albertan oil industry is popular rather than just driven by the federal government. If anything, it seemed like Trudeau wanted to work more with Alberta but faced loud complaints (including court challenges) from the rest of Canada.
Like I’d much rather see a long term strategy that ends up leaving most of that oil in the sands than any further investment in extracting it. I also interpret “don’t worry, it’ll be perfectly safe” as “we’ll extraxct as much value from this until it fails and if the consequences are severe enough, make sure retirement funds have invested in us so that we have hostages”.
Why do you hate ottawa?

It’s shorthand for “the federal government”.
