    Irssi is the gold standard for accessible chat, but not because of luck. Irssi was built over 20 years with a custom rendering engine that utilizes VT100 Scrolling Regions.

    Yes, the appreciated Irssi released on 1999, but haven’t they considered Weechat (first release on 2004) for unmatched comparison? I find the latter much more customizable and convenient, and features multiple buffers out-of-the-box. It looks like a better standard, and is written on C, too.

    And, considering the “regional scrolling”, haven’t they considered multi-plexers, like Screen or Tmux?
