    I’ve heard there were prototypes for those bikes that were really good, but once people got production models…

      I doubt the prototypes were very good.

      The entire concept of a hubless bicycle; while neat is just masturbation for engineers

      It starts by taking something that is perfect and proven and replacing it with compromise after compromise

        Counterpoint: a 26 inch rim being spun about a 1 inch bearing holding up to 200 lbs supported by a series of tensioned 14 gauge metal spokes doesn’t exactly sound less like masturbation for engineers.
