Well I guess harvesting your private data through the app and selling it to 3rd party vendors is part of the scheme to lower the price.

Or maybe the overhead to offer a physical card securely is higher than doing it digitally. The real issue is locking people in proprietary ecosystems, which is completely unnecessary to reduce costs.

Idk, why cant i get my tax return without a direct deposit account. They stopped mailing checks so i havent seen 2 years worth of tax returns cuz i refuse to open a new bank account. I use venmo card tied to a bank account i overdrafted till it closed. I have had 0 overdraft fees, 0 issues using direct deposit with anything other than the irs, 0 issues buying shit online unlike my bank that denied everything that wasnt bought on amazon.com, 0 issues cashing checks more than the cash in my account like i did with bank, 0 check cashing fees EVEN WHEN THE FUCKING CHECK WAS WRITTEN BY SOMEONE USING THE SAME BANK I HAD. Think about it, the bank has the money that i made in my employers account which they owe me and they have the fuckin audacity to charge me a check cashing fee to my money they owe me.
