Nice, now it will look cuter when Amazon turns it into a paperweight once the sales of new devices go down.

Any advice on a non-Amazon easy to use and load ereader (paperwhite style)? I have many ebooks, but my old kindle is dying. Didn’t really want to go through the jailbreaking process on a newer one. Also it seemed dicey with what firmware level you might receive and I have no account to register it to as part of that process. Anyhow, alternatives?

Edit: The pocketbook was either available from a retailer I did not recognize or Amazon. Won’t do Amazon so I bought a Kobo from Kobo’s site. No idea what they’re like so we shall see. They seem open. For funsies I will also eventually do an 11-12th gen paperwhite j/b since the results make it worthwhile.

On paper, so to speak, Kindle’s are a useful bit of kit but reading on them is just somehow not the same as a paper book. It feels like Quorn.

Had a kobo and it was nice, but ended up selling it. I got mind stuck that my phone screen wasnt big enough, and that outdoors in sunshine would be an issue.

Finally trialed using my phone with Episteme reader and the experience was actually really good. Setting a bigger font, quick light text on dark theme & even in sunshine perfectly readable.

Add in the convenience factor of having just one device i already have with me always. YMMV but dont overlook what you may already have & paid for :)
