    Hmm… they don’t seem to be counting any lithophilic bacteria in their speculation. There are miles of crust beneath every biome on Earth, if even a small fraction of it is inhabited by lithophile bacteria that’d be a lot of biomass.

    Our bogon mass is greater than that of any other species, certainly, but some arthropods, some funguses, some bacteris, some plants or algaes, must have greater mass than us…

    we have more differentiation between individuals than mere-animals have between species, though, so it’d be fairer to compare genus against genus…
