Really hoping that this is the beginning of even more apps moving away from Electron. Especially since so many modern apps (Electron or not) just love to default to running at startup, without even having the option to turn it off in settings. Defaulting to telling people to turn it off in Task Manager is lame, and isn’t a real option. It is already bad enough that via a built-in setting or via Task Manager, they still love to run processes anyway. It is wild how much better PCs I work on for people run after I purge the fuck out of all the chat/gaming/creative apps from launching. Every little bit matters so much right now.

Windows itself enables this shit with Webview and by defaulting to hiding the damn icons of the running apps from the notification area. Leads to people not even noticing just how many of them are always there. But no, they want to “de-clutter” by just pretending shit isn’t there (while pushing all the search bar art, widgets that users don’t use, but just assume is just a non-removable thing). Sorry for that rant, just a daily frustration between enshittification from the companies, and growing tech illiteracy of users.

Fuck yeah! Now their identity verification will be even faster and more performant! 🚀
