Are there any studies that seem to confirm that a LES training is possible in this way?

it’s a n of 1 observational study; its very much not “HOW TO CURE ACID REFLUX”, but rather a point for future research to build on.

The mechanism of action seems compelling, coupled with other therapies for acid reflux, it seems reasonable someone would see benefits.

Diet is known to improve reflux as well. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16871438/

I’m just wondering whether there’s evidence to support the claim that training of the LES by eating upside down is possible. To me it doesn’t seem entirely plausible, but I’m a layman.

Muscles atrophy if they are disused. Astronauts lose tons of muscle mass just by being in space.

Muscles get stronger just by using them more. Consider the heart, cardio strengthens the heart just by using it more.

The mechanism of strengthening a muscle by using it more fits the current muscle growth models.

I just fail to see how a sphincter gets “used more” by working in an upsidedown manner. Also, by this logic I’d just need to eat more or more often to strengthen the LES, which I doubt will make acid reflux any better.
