As a small team, we’re all generalists, constantly pick up new challenges, and interface with customers regularly. Regarding product and code, we’re looking to work with experienced people who can pick a problem and solve it. We don’t expect you to have a background in all the tools we use, but we expect a background working with TypeScript and at least one other language. What you’ll do Launch and scale AI chat in docs. We built a prototype of AI chat with docs and rolled it out in our docs (see it in the search bar of buildwithfern.com/learn (https://link.buildwithfern.com/ai-chat-docs)). Now our customers are asking for it, and feedback is rolling in. We need your help to iterate and launch the feature so 10,000s of developers can benefit. Build to emerging standards. We launched (https://link.buildwithfern.com/llms-txt-linkedin) /llms.txt to make it easier for LLMs and Agents to read developer documentation. The ideas for improvements—from auto-generating Cursor rules to minimizing characters for token efficiency—surpassed our expectations. Develop zero-to-one AI-enabled features. Customers are asking for experiences that can only be offered through GenAI. We want your help to scope the work, architect a solution, and build a prototype. Bring talent to our team. We’re expanding, and you will work directly with the CEO and CTO to bring in talented AI engineers to collaborate with. What you’ll bring 4+ years of professional backend or full-stack development Significant experience working with TypeScript and one other programming language Experience developing, deploying, and monitoring an AI product or feature in production You are a former or future founder (Nice to have) You've worked in a high-growth SaaS company What we offer Ownership of projects end-to-end while wearing multiple hats First-hand experience building an early-stage startup A salary of $168,000 to $192,000 and equity Living proximity bonus of $18,000 per year if you choose to live near the office Meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) at the office Health, dental, and vision insurance Unlimited vacation Our tech stack Anthropic, Amazon Bedrock & AI SDK (LLMs) turbopuffer (VectorDB) Fern (API) Microservices: Express (NodeJs), FastAPI (Python) Algolia (Search) AWS (Cloud) NextJS + Vercel (Frontend) Cursor (Code Editor)
