When I was looking for a new job, I was applying with thousands of other qualified people. Many of those applications never got looked at, and many of those companies already decided to hire internally, but to open it up to the outside to not show favoritism.

A year ago I got laid off and it took me 6 months to find a job… and I am very skilled and have a lot of high quality experience in my field. It was brutal. As you said 4 times in those 6 months I got all the way to the last interview only to be told they went with an internal candidate.

Hard out there – fortunately I finally landed something and I am just happy to be employed in this environment

Exactly the same story here. 6 months. Literally the last week of unemployment checks. I’m making less than before, but the job is a lot easier here and it’s wfh instead of an office.

I hope you got lucky and found a decent place. Keep your head down.

Those are not good numbers. If AI continues to take jobs…there’s going to be a massive increase of unemployment.
