Velázquez’s bill would bar ICE agents from wearing facial coverings during immigration enforcement, unless medically necessary or required for safety. It would also require written justification for any mask use, agents to wear clothing displaying their name and affiliation with ICE, and DHS to report annually to Congress on any related complaints and disciplinary actions."
If all this cruel unnecessary hateful activity against some of the most vulnerable among our neighbors is legal, WHY ARE YOU ICEHOLES hiding your faces???
I’m curious if a state passed a law requiring everyone officially detaining any person in their state must have official identification, badges and picture ID presented. Could state police arrest ICE?
That would make me SO happy.
That’s setting up a fight with the federal government since, to my recollection from high school, federal takes precedence over states in pretty much everything they have rights to.
Also, will local cops actually work against federal cops? Hard to say.
Not really because the state cops wouldn’t be interfering or stopping federal enforcement. Just illegal tactics and methods. If an FBI agent murders someone, they’re going to get arrested for murder, even if they were arresting someone at the time. Having an overriding authority, doesn’t make them immune to the law.
