    Fun fact lots of deserts get snow!

    Here’s the Badlands National Park in South Dakota in winter.

    Desert as most modern ecologists define it is a region where the evaporation potential exceeds annual precipitation.

    It’s not that it’s always hot, just that it is arid and the topsoil does not retain more water than evaporates each year.
