About us\ We’re a tiny group of engineers on a mission to democratize high‑quality authentication and to make auth something every developer can truly own. Our open‑source framework is already one of the fastest‑growing auth solutions in the world. It’s trusted by thousands of developers and rapidly adopted by startups and YC companies alike. We’ve grown our community and impact faster than our team and now we’re looking to align the two quickly. What you’ll work on here Collaborating across backend, frontend, and design to ship features that make developers’ lives easier Building at the edge between frontend and backend with TypeScript, React, and Node Owning features end‑to‑end, from concept to production deployment Managing and improving our plugin ecosystem for developers Mentoring junior developers and contributing to planning and review sessions Why you should join Better Auth You’ll enjoy high ownership and join a team that’s still early but already making a huge impact. You’ll work deeply on developer experience and thrive in a collaborative, low‑ego environment. This is a very early team. You’re not joining an existing culture - you’ll be helping define it. We value agentic people who take initiative, push ideas forward, and shape the future rather than wait for direction. We carve out plenty of time for heads‑down building while tackling meaningful problems. We value strong opinions, open discussion, and the humility to change direction when needed. We focus on the sweet spot between what excites you and what moves the company forward. Here, you’ll own projects, ship features, and grow quickly alongside a team that’s redefining what authentication can be. Required Skills: 5+ years of software development experience Strong TypeScript expertise (bonus points if you’ve wrestled with complex generics) Familiarity with different auth‑related specs and concepts Experience taking features from 0→1—shipping is second nature to you Bonus Points: Experience maintaining open‑source projects Experience architecting or building complex auth systems Company benefits:\ Compensation: $140k–$200k USD based on experience (with very generous equity)\ Fully remote: anywhere in the world (preference for USA or nearby time zones)\ Early‑stage ownership in a high‑growth company
