Depot is growing rapidly and reinventing the software build space, so we are now looking for a technical content writer to help us tell that story and scale our educational content.  Depot has created a build performance and developer productivity platform unlike any other. We have redefined how teams build software locally and in CI by making speed a first-class feature. Our products accelerate container builds, GitHub Actions, Bazel and Gradle builds, and more. Teams using Depot save literal years of build time. This role is about helping developers understand that story. Through great content, clear documentation, and technical depth, you’ll show how Depot works and why it matters. As our first dedicated technical content hire, you'll have the opportunity to define how we communicate with developers at scale. Responsibilities Write long-form technical blog posts, guides, benchmarks, and product explainers Maintain and improve our public product documentation Work directly with engineers to extract stories, capture implementation details, and turn raw ideas into useful content Track content performance and iterate based on developer feedback, usage analytics, and business impact Create new content that supports common use cases and demonstrates the impact of Depot in real-world CI environments Support product launches with technical content that explains what changed and why it matters Help engineers ship more by writing the things they don’t have time to Build and own Depot's technical content strategy as the company scales Skills & Experience Strong technical writer with experience creating content for a developer audience Experience with containerization, CI/CD pipelines, or build tooling preferred Comfortable working from source code, changelogs, and internal notes Prioritizes clarity and usefulness above style Writes with authority, accuracy, and developer empathy Self-motivated and able to find and execute on high-leverage content opportunities without waiting for prompts Depot values and culture We are a fully remote and globally distributed team across the US, Europe, and Canada. As a startup focused on iteration speed and technical depth, we care deeply about how people work together. We look for self starters. Part of working in a startup is being able to self navigate the ambiguity and take meaningful action to keep the momentum moving forward. There is no shortage of fun, hard, interesting things to work on, but you need to be self motivated to pick them up and go. We’re transparent. We do not hide how the business is doing or what the tradeoffs are. Internally and externally, we tell the truth about how things work and where they break. We’re data driven. We track performance to the second. We ship benchmarks with methodology. A decision without data is just a theory. We’re relentlessly helpful. We meet developers where they are and help them move faster. Inside the company, we take the same approach with each other. We do more with less. We maximize impact through efficiency and resourcefulness. We value folks who can ruthlessly prioritize and take action. Constraints drive innovation, not limitation. We’re not your family. We’re a team. We expect you to get things done and contribute meaningfully, and also to protect your time, rest, and personal life. Balance matters.
