I didn’t really care for the new movies as much as the old one. I liked the sound weapons (“My name is a killing word.” or something along those lines) in the original movie. Paul doesn’t end up with Chani (yet, at least). The Harkonens didn’t seem nearly as vicious. In the original, I felt that they truly enjoyed the suffering they caused and that they caused it for that joy, not just to make a point. Christopher Walken was a terrible choice for the Emperor (seriously, wtf?). There were some lore bits that weren’t in the older one that I did enjoy, but not enough to sway the needle of preference for me.
