Anyway I guess people understandably don’t like the idea of software gated subscriptions creeping into the mechanical parts of cars. It’s not only selling the same thing for more: it’s a safety/security risk.
Your modem card won’t kill someone if its subscription software bugs out.
Tesla shouldn’t have done it either… honestly people just didn’t really know much about them back then.
I don’t get why I should be outraged by this - and I drive a VW EV.
Just like Tesla did the same when I (unfortunately) had a car from them a few years back.
Or USRobotics that sold me a Sportster 14.4 Vbis that was exactly the same hardware as the much more expensive 16.8 DS back in the early 90s.
