    case: optional

    i had a machine once i needed runnin but no case so i put it all together just sitting on a shelf and used a screwdriver to jump the power button pins to turn it on.

    fun times

    I remember being so excited when PCI came out and having to find cards for it instead of ISA (never had MCA). Then AGP and having to make sure that my video card supported it and not PCI. For a time I even had a server level board that supported PCI-X though I never got any cards for that.

    Once PCIe came on the scene, everything was unified.
