It’s true that it’s possible that this world works like that, but we don’t actually know whether it works indefinitely. It’s entirely possible that a mind still gets molded by the body it inhabits, even if it is separate enough to instantly zap into a different body. Maybe it works like in Animorphs, where most of the basic functions are governed by the animal instincts and the human consciousness is somewhat separate from it (animal emotions still affect it), but if you exceed the time limit you can’t morph back anymore and your consciousness slowly becomes more animal-like.
