Background for the Decision There are several factors that together make it no longer commercially viable for Buypass to continue services related to TLS/SSL certificates. The decision is based on a comprehensive assessment of the market situation and the regulatory framework for certificate issuance. The main reasons are: International volume market: The TLS/SSL certificate market is characterised by high competition and large international players. There is significant pressure on prices, customer solution development, and volumes to ensure profitability. Declining revenue: A strong shift from commercial TLS/SSL certificates to free certificates for the majority of volumes has further increased pressure on revenue and profitability. Increasing requirements and investment costs: The regulatory framework in this area is extensive and constantly evolving. This makes it resource-intensive to maintain the service in compliance with current requirements. Enhancing Our ID and Signing Solutions Our other offerings within eID, digital signing, and certificates will continue and be further developed. This includes Employee ID, eID for private individuals, enterprise certificates, and eSeal.
