The ‘disturbing’ reason is light pollution.

Unpopular opinion but i think people should not be installing accent lighting and other ‘on all night’ lights. If you want security there’s many options for sensor lights. If you want to just brightly display your home and don’t care about all the insects and animals you’re screwing up the lives of in the process - then you’re a selfish bastard. To be clear though I think with most people it’s ignorance and an incurious mind.

I don’t know what the solution is for cities and street lights, but I know some coastal towns have artificial light bans so that they don’t mess up turtle egg laying and turtle hatchlings navigation during the eggs laying and hatching seasons.
