I think your world moved on, Dayvi Schuster, as my world still works like this. I think you have surrounded yourself with aging dead-end personalities and corporate sellouts, who have distracted themselves with the rat race and forgotten the world of curiosity and creation.
Ancedotally, I think it’s that the average developer is not as curious anymore, but that’s because the industry has grown a lot (both in number of people and areas of focus).
At the end of the day, that’s not a bad thing, just something we’d expect to happen.
