    Yes. Any time you’re not looking at the road is bad in a moving vehicle.

    I know the answer is advertising and because it’s cheaper and easier but why the fuck did HUDs not become the default?

    Why would you not put critical info right where you can pay attention to the road? I will always consider this one of the easiest safety improvements that should have immediately been regulated in.

    Up to the time they were integrated in cars, in my country it was illegal to operate a phone while driving.

    First thing I do when I get into a new car, rental, etc… is turn off the hud. It’s only value is as a backup camera

      I think you mean the infotainment screen.

      A HUD is usually just a simplified form of your cluster projected onto your windscreen.
