    Try asking “I tried to do this thing this way and I got this error, this other way and I got this other error, and this other way and it exploded; what am I doing wrong?” and at least you’ll get an answer telling you not to do that thing, you idiot, and another telling you that this question was asked and answered twelve years ago in [dead link] and you should’ve looked before asking… and a few comments that might give you an actual hint as how to do it, followed by a lot of replies telling them that sure, that might work, but you really shouldn’t be doing that thing, with a reasonable explanation of why doing the thing you want to do is profoundly stupid and dangerous.

      Yep. I have posted on stack overflow exactly 3 times. One time it was marked as duplicate and referenced to something that was not even the same topic. One time I had too much detail and debugging done for the classic knowitalls to come make a smartass remark and was completely ignored. The final time I got one comment, addressed it, and that person was never heard from again lol.
