Engineering at Omni\ We’re building the AI-powered infrastructure layer for small business lending. Helping banks and fintechs automate the messy work of collecting documents, filling out financial models, and doing public research on millions of SMBs across the country. There are 34 million small businesses in the U.S., and every one of them needs capital. We’re making it radically easier for lenders to serve them. At Omni we run everything from initial application, third party data aggregation, OCR and financial data extraction, and continuous borrower communication. You can see a demo of the product here: https://finovate.com/videos/finovatefall-2025-omniai/ What you’ll do As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you’ll work directly with our customers — banks, fintechs, and lenders — to bring Omni’s platform to life inside their organizations. You’ll sit alongside their teams, design integrations, and help transform how they operate day-to-day. Expect to: Travel frequently to customer sites across the U.S. to lead implementations and on-the-ground problem solving Collaborate with product and AI teams to adapt Omni’s infrastructure for each lender’s unique workflow Work with real production data and complex integrations (Salesforce, nCino, Fiserv, Jack Henry, etc.) Represent Omni at conferences and customer events — our whole team travels for major conferences like Finovate, Lend360, and NAGGL Deliver fast, scrappy solutions that turn into long-term systems used by thousands of borrowers This is a deeply technical and highly visible role. You’ll be both an engineer and an ambassador, shaping how banks adopt AI-first infrastructure What you’ll work on There’s a lot that goes into commercial lending, and we’re tackling every step of the process. Some of the core concepts will be: Structuring messy PDFs into clean, machine-readable data across every type of business document imaginable. We’ve spent more than a year building incredibly high accuracy OCR pipelines (including building a major open source library: https://github.com/getomni-ai/zerox) Aggregating millions of unstructured data points from 50+ government and public data sources (UCC filings, liens, licenses, tax records, etc.) into usable intelligence for lenders. As well as using third party data (credit bureaus, KYC, AML). Designing AI workflows that combine OCR, LLMs, and rule-based systems into predictable, production-ready outputs. And learning how to build Human <=> AI interfaces that are intuitive (i.e. HIL, model feedback, supervision, reporting). Building real-time financial models to underwrite SMBs faster and more accurately. Creating internal tools for sourcing, labeling, and generating massive training datasets (see: Infinite PDF Generator (https://getomni.ai/blog/infinite-pdf-generator)) You’ll also help bridge the gap between our engineering roadmap and the real-world challenges lenders face. Tech Stack We primarily use **Node, TypeScript, React/Next.js, Postgres, Docker, and K8.**\ We integrate with external systems like Salesforce, Hubspot, nCino, and several bank specific core systems (Jack Henry, Fiserv, etc.). If you’ve ever worked with SOAP APIs or On the AI side, we mainly interface with OpenAI and Gemini models. Customers can deploy Omni either via cloud or VPC, so familiarity with containerization and DevOps is valuable. Great Perks + Benefits Competitive Pay & Equity: Attractive salary and meaningful equity packages Health & Wellness: Medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your family Flexible Time Off: Unlimited PTO and paid holidays Daily Lunch: Team meals provided Real Impact: Own and ship features you believe in. About the interview Phone Screen\ Take 30 minutes to chat with one of the founders. Learn a bit about your interests, and share what we’re working on at Omni. We are looking for people with a strong interest in startups, and would love to hear about prior startup experience. Also really interested in seeing any open source work. Architecture Interview\ A 1 hour call with both founders where we design a hypothetical feature. There’s no coding involved. Instead we’ll discuss a new feature, and do a collaborative walk though of the architecture required. We want to think about everything from database design to UI. Onsite\ You’ll spend the day working with us at our SF office. Meals will be covered, as well as any travel and accommodation. We’ll spend the day building out an MVP of the feature we planned out during the architecture interview. You'll be using your own computer, and using whatever language/environment you are most comfortable with. By the end of the day we are expecting two things: Fully functioning code. A few bugs are expected, but the core use case should be solved. A great demo. We want to see how clearly you can pitch your finished solution.
