          I set myself the goal of making sure mine survives until 18. Anything past that is bonus points.

          So far I have lots of bonus points.

            I’ve also made lots and lots of mistakes, but I do the same and try to learn and improve. It’s just part of being human.

        Counterpoint: My wife’s dad says he is a bad father and is currently addicted to meth and in prison and thats probably one of the least crazy situations he has found himself in in the last 40 years.

          Addiction is a mental health issue and incarceration is classist warfare; people can be incarcerated for benign action that have harmed no one. Those aren’t things to hold against someone without knowing more about the circumstances.

          None of that makes them a bad father inherently.
