If I were Netflix CEO, I’d put the HBO apps in maintenance mode. Sit on it. Move most devs to the Netflix app and give them time.
Then, when the last price hike is out of memory, sunset the HBO app, make a prominent “HBO” section in Netflix (with the whole catalog + surviving live channels) to milk that brand, and use all that to cover/justify a (small) price hike.
Ultimately, simplifying makes for better business,
lest they turn into a flailing hydra like Comcast.
