It sounds like he got into the trunk and shut it himself. I hope he’s just incomprehensibly stupid and not trying to ambush people, but it’s really hard to believe.
Seems like the first. People get trapped inside the trunk often enough, so there’ s a trunk release inside for this very reason.
Tbh, I always assumed that handle was for children and kidnapping victims. I guess it’s just intrusive thoughts.
