I assumed he’s exhibiting casual homophobia rather than actually knowing Adam’s sexual orientation.
In some places, it’s basically supplanted the word “asshole” for a lot of people.
My boss is from a small town and, for religious reasons, doesn’t swear and is deeply uncomfortable with it.
But we asked one day if there’s a swear he does use he said
“I hate to admit it, but faggot rolls off my tongue too easily.”
Its the closest he’s ever come to swearing.
