Redeeming a gift card should never, ever lead to an account ban. Even if this card wasn’t bought in a legitimate chain, but on the sketchiest website ever. It’s in the nature of a gift card that the one who redeems it, is not always the one who bought it.

The system rejecting the card is one thing, and perfectly valid. This is like the technological equivalent of an anaphylactic reaction.

in the scamming world, its never the same person, like whoever implemented that policy was smoking something good.

In the fraudster world you either sell the codes that you ripped off a card, or you have another person buy the card to give it to you. It’s never the same person, the fact they are banning based off suspicious activity screams big head who doesn’t understand the impact or reason for their changes outside “defrauded cards bad”

Digital Russian roulette was a great way to describe it. People shouldn’t be held hostage on the whims of Apple faceless system. We pay for our products. Taking them away after they have been paid for, and with no genuine reason is theft.

Just treat it as robbery. Intended or not, justifiable somehow or not, - why the hell walk the same street where many people have been robbed.

Apple and Google and other products are not this valuable.

Yes, looks nice. But they are assholes. Leave them be.

If enough people treated the matter like this, not putting particular belief or care into any specific firm with its logo and its technologies none of which are wonderful and unique, we’d have a better world.

There’s still deeply ingrained perception of those companies and that industry as of some leviathans, that can’t be replaced, space age tech, inventor holy orders, something like that. The tech has already been made in many variants and tested and studied. It’s not cutting edge anymore to have a global network. Neither are usable UIs. Modern operating systems have not progressed much ideologically since RSX-11 and TRON.

People treat these companies as something precious for the reality. Nothing will be lost if Apple, MS, Google and others all die at once. All tech is made by engineers. I assure you we won’t fall into stone age.

Don’t deal with assholes. If there are only assholes offering a specific kind of goods, then choose the least known noname Chinese producer, it’ll at least cost what it’s worth.
