I have no experience or first hand knowledge of this but I saw a video with prostitutes being interviewed years ago. They said a depressingly large amount of people hired them just to talk and converse. No sex. Just talking like a good friend because the person hiring them didn’t have any. They just wanted someone to be their friend. It was really sad.

I just remembered one of the stories where the girl said one of the guys was a early 50s man who was sometype of manager. He would hire her about every other week. They would go to a dinner and just talk about random stuff for an hour or two over coffee and some light food. She said he previously had a wife who died during child birth(daughter also died) and he couldn’t bring himself to be with another woman because he loved his wife so much. He stopped calling her and after about 2 months she tried asking around if anyone had seen him. It turned out he took his own life. She started crying in the video because she couldn’t go to funeral as it was several weeks earlier and wished she could have said good bye to him.

You generally don’t hire a prostitute unless you’ve hit a low point in life. That’s not to disparage prostitutes, I think it’s a noble and needed profession that’s demonized by society; but the kinds of people that are willing to skirt the law and take the risks in hiring one, are typically not having a good life.

Or you’re in a red light district, I’ve seen many a man and woman become a giggling “I wanna buy the candy” person while window shopping … shit we peepressured my old boss into it 😂

Makes you wonder if the Japanese “rent-a-friend” service might actually be a good idea. Ok, need a different name but…
