A start could be going back to a mouse with a physical ball in it again. Laser does regular mouse tracking and ball gets resistance applied to its rollers for a sensation of dragging the mouse over something.
Physical weight can help for things. As an example my son has a disability and working memory math and abstract math concepts are hard for him. He would not know the difference between 15 and 50 dollars, they are just digits.
The work around to get his brain thinking about number size was bench press.
We would put 5 lbs on the bar and have him bench it, then add 5 more to feel 10. Etc. As he built strength we would do more and more 10s and 5s so he had to skip count by those increments. This way he knew 10 lbs is a lot different than 100 lbs (even though the extra zero would seem to add nothing to 10)
Making it hard to click delete on critical files would seem like great feedback to users.
