The way Denise (who knows him better than we do) reacted imo suggests she too thinks he’s making shit up (again). But sure, he’d just have to say “sorry, I seem to have misremembered this. In the future, I will try to check with others before I publicly post about distant memories.”

      not to defend berman, but:

      1. do you really think people should check with others before “posting distant memories on a twitter”?
      2. crosby was leaving the show voluntarily, which i think changes context of this story

Why does her leaving voluntarily change things? People who quit a job still deserve respect.

Regardless, I’m more concerned about the original behaviour than whether he remembered it or not. A forgetful asshole is still an asshole.

because it sounds like “he forced her out somehow and then he was an asshole to her”, sort of what happened with farell, but it is a different situation.

except that is not what happened. she left because she felt she is not going to become a star there and she will have bigger chance elsewhere.

Both things can be correct. She felt her like her character wasn’t going to go anywhere and was just becoming the “hot blonde” character which she understandably didn’t want. That was the show-runners treating her like shit, and her feeling like she wasn’t going to become a star there.

Given how Trek has treated women characters up to the current day, I’m not sure she was wrong.

we have jenna mitchell in the cast of strange new worlds today and it is wonder we even know her name. is she also treated like shit by some bully? compared to that, corby got one episode centered all around her and quite an amount of screen time in the other episodes. not everything is ensamble cast, sometimes you have support characters, sometimes it takes time to develop some characters.

she also returned when she found out grass is not greener on the other side, so i think your theory has some holes in it.

If you’re posting about the actions of someone else, and if you’re presenting it as fact, then yes.

His memories of an interaction with Crosby do not belong only to him. And she has the right to correct him - especially since the truth makes him out to be far less than he’s presenting himself as.

If they have a history of misremembering and have been called out before, yes. Especially if they’re essentially doing PR, like he is doing here.

He’s still attached to the Trek franchise and benefits if in the public’s perception his relationship with cast and crew is seen as friendly. He told this story to shape that perception, to make people say, “aw, cute, she wanted him to have her badge, they must be good friends.”

He doesn’t need to “come back” anywhere to benefit. If he wants to do anything at all in media (write a book, do a con, consult on a show etc), he’d better keep the memory of his connection to Trek alive. If nothing else, if he doesn’t want to work at all anymore, at the barest, very least, it gets him positive attention from the internet to portray himself as a friend to other people attached to Trek.
