Head of Growth at Laylo | Y Combinator
www.ycombinator.comLaylo is the Drop CRM powering iconic artists and live events. The platform combines landing pages, messaging, link tracking, and more to drive more tickets, merch and streams through Instagram DM, SMS and Email. Today, we power CRM across hundreds of millions of fans for some of the biggest names in entertainment like Sabrina Carpenter, Outside Lands and Skrillex.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a Head of Growth (player/coach) to build and run Laylo’s growth engine. A 0→1 builder who doesn’t just ideate, but ships. You’ll create great content, run scrappy experiments, and build product growth loops that compound. This is a hands-on role: you’ll set strategy, execute a rapid experiment cadence, measure results, and turn wins into repeatable playbooks.
You’ll focus primarily on non-advertising channels: organic social, influencer/creator collaborations, channel partners, and product growth loops. We value strong taste, speed, and a rigorous learning cadence.
You’ll report directly to the CEO and work closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Partnerships, and Sales. You’re likely a good fit if you’re excited to open Adobe/Figma/Notion/PostHog and ship something today.
Requirements:
5+ years of growth experience with a track record growing a software platform
Player/coach: experience leading small teams and/or contractors/agencies while staying hands-on (typically 2–5 people total)
Understanding of SaaS business models and funnels, particularly those with self-serve engines
Analytical + data-literate: can dig into tracking and metrics, distill insights, and communicate clearly through data (PostHog/GA/Amplitude/Mixpanel)
Actively uses modern AI tools to move faster and raise quality (content ideation, editing, creative iteration, analytics, automation, rapid prototyping).
Proven ability to build and scale non-ad channels: organic social, influencer marketing, partnerships, community, product loops, SEO/AEO
You’ll thrive here if you can:
You can write, produce, and ship content yourself (scripts, posts, email/SMS copy, basic creative direction).
You can prototype experiments quickly (new landing pages, flows, lifecycle messages, partner kits).
You’re comfortable being the first and last draft.
Key Responsibilities:
Organic Social Engine: build repeatable formats and a consistent cadence that drives awareness + qualified inbound
Influencer/Creator Programs: build a scalable collaboration pipeline (co-posts, drop spotlights, challenges, ambassador-style programs)
Channel Partners: build partner-led growth motions + co-marketing, enablement assets, and measurable sourced signups/pipeline
Product Growth Loops: Partner with Product/Eng to ship loops (sharing, invites, referrals, templates) and own loop metrics
Trendspotting: stay ahead of emerging marketing trends and cultural moments to leverage timely opportunities
Experimentation: take 2–5 experiments/week from idea → launch → measurement → iteration (mix of small + medium bets)
International expansion: replicate U.S. success across key markets such as EU/UK, LATAM, and Australia
What Success Looks Like:
Build a dashboarded KPI system and deliver weekly growth reporting to the CEO
Launch and scale 2–3 repeatable growth motions (organic, influencers, partners, loops)
Improve key funnel metrics (conversion, activation, retention) and clearly tie work to outcomes
Maintain a strong experimentation cadence with clear learnings and scaled winners
Increase brand awareness and organic reach in ways that translate into qualified inbound and adoption
What You Bring:
Proven track record of driving attention-grabbing marketing initiatives, campaigns, or stunts.
Boundless creativity paired with a scrappy, resourceful mindset.
A knack for storytelling and the ability to transform wild ideas into actionable plans.
Data-driven approach to measure success and inform future experiments.
Comfort with ambiguity and a love for testing uncharted waters.
A collaborative spirit and strong communication skills.
How To Apply:
Send us your first out-of-the-box idea for your first campaign in this role. Bonus points for mentioning other companies and campaigns you think are relevant.
About Us:
Our founders met while building competing consumer startups. We launched multiple products across consumer and SaaS and talked to thousands of fans and creators in the process. In 2020, we realized one of the biggest pain points artists and events face is actually driving their audience from socials into their own CRM.
In 2020, we joined Y Combinator’s summer batch and began building a product that quickly gained strong early traction. We raised from top-tier investors like Eldridge and Sony and have since grown into a team of 24 exceptional individuals spanning product, sales, and operations.
We have a strong written documentation culture. We try to do as much as possible asynchronously to move quickly and efficiently. We have a daily 30 minute standup and team-specific meetings throughout the week.
