Initially I read “break” as in “to take a break from something” which implies a temporary action. English isn’t my first language so sometimes this happens.

Yeah, “split” would be more clear
Yeah, after I read it a couple more times I got it. Initially I read “break” as in “to take a break from something” which implies a temporary action. English isn’t my first language so sometimes this happens.
English is my first language and I still read it the same way as you at first.
English IS my first language and it still tripped me up. It’s an easy thing to swap, especially without much context.
