    I understand how mathematics can be used in accounting and (just barely) understand trigonometry. And as an aside, Terrence Tao was in my high school physics class.

    It’s entirely possible that I’m a low brow Luddite moron, but I have a genuine question, not trying to troll:

    So what? How does this provide any benefit to anybody? What can this be used for? Why is this worth spending time on?

      That’s the neat part: we often don’t know how/whether these things can be applied to programming, Econ, or other fields of study. But all of a sudden someone might find a use case for it.
