The FBI didn’t do shit. Google is recording from these devices whether you have a subscription or not. They just didn’t want to surrender the footage right away because they don’t want their customers to know this. It has the fucking NEST watermark in the corner FFS. This wasn’t forensically assembled footage, its just video from the normal operation of the camera that is constantly snooping on all of us.
Yeah, and not only are they recording, but they’re recording for a reason. Video files aren’t cheap, they wouldn’t be storing them unless they thought they were getting something out of it. It could be for AI model training or for targeted add or something, or both, who knows. But whatever they are using it for its still a bit unnerving to know they probably are using it for something.
