I just hate the fact you need to buy Google Pixel phone to use it. But I guess they needed the most standardized hardware that doesn’t have 24 variants on each release…
Pixels have the most secure hardware. Luckily it doesn’t have to be the newest model so not too expensive for a phone
Buy second hand
It’s because GrapheneOS has a long list of support and security requirements, and Pixel devices are the only ones that implement them all.
That’s never been an issue for other phones and ROMs though
I dont want to use google in any form… :(
Yeah me either, I use graphene for now until something better is available. Its also more secure than any other modern phone. I do think that the mass adoption of graphene is making a complete alternative to google or apple tech (including hardware) possible
I’m with you there. Got an 8 Pro 2nd hand for this and sold on my iPhone 2nd hand as well. Graphene is looking into supplying their owm hardware, hope they make progress while so many consider the switch.
I’m planing to do the same with my MacBook Air, got an M1 version that I will swap for the last Intel version. I can put Linux properly (Asahi for M1/2 is incredible but still limited) and the other person won’t give new money to Apple for their upgrade.
Break free from Google OS, not their hardwarem
