This post describes the construction of an Aho-Corasick automaton for the simultaneous matching of substrings within a sequence. I’m fond of this algorithm because it constructs an automaton from an existing tree data structure in a rather pleasant way.

You would still need to know what you’re looking for, whether that’s an ID (repo name / full IRL) or some (unspecified part of a) repo header. It’s surprising why someone of your skill level asks such an odd, unspecified question. Why do you being up a random idea and ask the community any that’s good or bad? Shouldn’t you offer some arguments as to why you think it’s good from the start, unless it obvious?

The only advantage I can think of would be to more easily find forks or even the same content on different hosts without having to know / verify possibly differing the repo names. But that brings is to the largest downside: security. Git hosters over namespaced repos with configurable access control. Your idea would be susceptible to impersonation, unless you being signing and some novel way to manage trust and verify signatures. Quite some hassle with little benefits 🤔

Why roff? Why not LaTeX or typst? No reason, I just wanted to flex. Also, I believe roff still in 2026 generates PDFs faster than any other markup system by a couple of milliseconds. So one must respect the early UNIX gurus.

You can use crowdsec without a reverse proxy and just block offending IPs using a firewall. However, you can optionally configure a reverse proxy to enforce decisions made by crowdsec, e.g. by serving error pages or by serving captchas. See Remediation Components (formally “Bouncers”)

Everyone knows bat is superior, some even call it batcat for that reason.

For this reason, font rendering is used to fingerprint users. Unless we can force chrome to use a software renderer, there’s not much you can do to get pixel perfect output. The OS, driver, graphic card, etc influence this. Maybe implement some tolerance when diffing screenshots?

If you want VPN support in docker containers, I was surprised his well gluetun works with any container.

Though ironically metube is the one thing I intentionally took out of the VPN, because too baby sites I cares about blocked it and I didn’t care about VPNs too in that use case.

As a programmer, I use it all the time. But I’ve seen IT students saying they are “scared of the console”. And many devs seem to be scared of git and just merge everything somewhere somehow without ever looking at a git graph. Of got target audience is programmers, CLIs should be fine. If not, then it depends on more details. Can you tell more about the service/application?

For basic pdf manipulation, my go to choice is NAPS2. It’s a scanner app, but you can also just import pdf. It then keys you rearrange, merge, rotate, color adjust, OCR, etc. free and open source. Windows, Linux, Mac. Multilang. Comes with a CLI. Works with password protected PDF. Almost everything you can think of.

Though I can imagine if you’re trying to make money, the consistency might be worth the additional cost, rather team having to put time and material into failed batches.

Personally I buy the cheapest PLA and hate myself everytime I have to disassemble the AMS to get out stuck pieces of broken filament (might not be related to the filament itself, I’m not asking for advise).
