2·9 days agoI want to but I don’t have enough external storage to back my data before wiping off windows and doing a clean Linux install, need to buy some hard drives first, hoping this AI scam hasn’t inflated the prices on those as well

21·9 days agoYesterday I found that my C drive was almost completely full and that was causing issues, digging into it I would that somehow a bug in One drives logging had generated almost 30 GB of logs, and the funny part is I have OneDrive disabled on my laptop. Tech has become such a toxic shithole field I wish I picked a different career

Technology@lemmy.world•BMW Is Showing Commercials On Their Car's Dash Screens And They Want You To Think It's A TreatEnglish
5·14 days agoTech companies do something called A/B testing where they will release a “feature” such as Ads to a segment of the user base and not to the others to see how they respond to decide if they want to release it to everyone, so yes in many instances we do live in parallel realities.

6·14 days agoExactly stupid nickel and dime cons like this are the fastest way to destroy brand image that takes decades to build, when I was ready to buy my first expensive Android phone I bought a Samsung Galaxy as I thought Samsung built good quality premium phones, and then I noticed that they had ads built into it through their default apps just like the budget android phone makers like Xiomi etc and I immediately lost all respect for the Samsung brand, my next phone was an iPhone after that

4·26 days agoI hate games with a lot of collectibles and hidden Easter egg stuff, since I’m a completionist and a hoarder, I waste so much time digging through things that lose track of the main missions and story and then the game becomes a drag

Technology@lemmy.world•USA: Slate's New Electric Truck Will Cost Slightly More Than $24,950English
2·2 months agoWhy do EV companies keep trying to make electric trucks, it seems like the least efficient form when it comes to getting long range out of a car, is it that insecure American men won’t buy a ev if it wasn’t in the gender affirming shape of a truck

Their sacrifice is our gain, if everyone was on Adblockers all the tech companies would make sure to block all Adblockers, even harder than what they are trying right now
