I’m sorry your workplace is so lame 😞 most of the IT at my last job were furries, and half of the dev team were trans or gay. I couldn’t imagine working somewhere that rejects valid software just because of its associations. That’s kinda like shooting yourself on the foot.

Idk my last workplace was full of nerds who appreciated the pedigree of anubus’ creator. We used it to protect our production sites without even changing the branding. If I were in your place I would find it very hard to resist bringing up the amount of furries in tech.

Yggdrasil is a fun one - I used to have it installed on all my boxes and would use it to ssh into everything. It saved my bacon a few times when internet connectivity for one device went out but because it meshed locally with other devices on the lan that still had internet, traffic got rerouted automatically. LAN peering uses broadcast discovery using ipv6 link local addresses, so it works even if the router dies and you don’t have dhcp handing out addresses.

I just set up a couple instances in the cloud and put a list of their connection details along with a few publicly run nodes as backups into the configs of each. As long as enough stays up for a path to exist you can reach it.

Not sure where I said no changes, I literally said in my first comment that I’m looking at other careers. Just because I don’t like your suggestion doesn’t mean I’m doing “business as usual”.

If I was willing to do that then I would have done so years ago, the calculus hasn’t really changed. If I’m going to do that then I might as well do literally anything else I don’t enjoy.

Yeah I’m a CS dropout and worked for startups for 10 years and now nobody is biting. Starting to think I need a career change because I can’t see things improving any time soon now that AI is out of the bag.

I have about 50% humidity and don’t usually dry my filament and I start to have issues with the outer layer of the spool snapping repeatedly when feeding after a year or two of sitting out. I used to have a dryer for cases like this but it got left behind in a move so I currently try to only use my new spools until I can get another one because I don’t trust using the oven and using the heat bed is really slow.

I use haproxy just for simplicity, with the https fronted in tcp mode with a tcp request inspect delay and acls using req_ssl_sni allows switching between multiple backend based on hostname, though if you only had 1 backend server then it could just be a raw tcp proxy. I have my stuff split between 2 local boxes that are both connected to the reverse proxy using wg so this works well for me.

I use a wireguard tunnel as a reverse proxy and it does ssl passthrough with sni. Termination happens on my local box and the reverse proxy host doesn’t do any certs.

I went with rsync.net, grabbed a promo at some point and have been getting 1.6TB for $10/mo. They support a wide range of protocols (sshfs, sftp, rsync, borg, synology, guides for freenas and truenas), snapshots, idle alerts, geo redundancy for a fee. Been very happy with it so far. Had to retrieve some files once and had no issue.

I couldn’t find a common compatible format for me and 15 friends :( I also got tired of getting 20 requests to download more movies and episodes every week.
