That part of the title where it says “that many secretly need” is just misleading. Only a couple of the inventions would even have the slightest possibility of ever being used.
The only people who would need those inventions are people who collect useless inventions.
Depending on what is meant by “understanding”, it might be true that Trump has a better understanding of the bible than Pope Leo.
If you’re talking about a scholarly understanding, then surely Leo has a better understanding. I mean, Trump can barely read in the first place. He definitely hasn’t ever read the bible on his own initiative. A small child who goes to Sunday school has a better scholarly understanding of the bible than Trump.
However, Trump at his core is a con man and game recognizes game, as they say. Religion is one of history’s greatest cons. The bible was written by the uneducated, by lunatics and the delusional, and by confidence tricksters. So on that level, Trump likely understands that the bible is all bullshit that isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. And so in that way, it might be true that Trump understands the bible better than Pope Leo.
I know it’s not currently the law, but I think if you’re a politician, you should legally have to maintain a higher standard for things like this.
Slapping a phone out of a reporter’s hand? Maybe if it was a private citizen being targeted, or I could even excuse a politician doing that if he was protecting his family.
But just the politician alone in a parking lot, and the reporter isn’t even getting in his face? Unacceptable. Surely there’s some law that he technically broke, like assault or something. Even if you wouldn’t charge a normal citizen, a politician should have a higher standard.
I say no excuses for politicians doing things like that. He should at least be arrested and booked into jail.
I honestly believe that Trump would send our soldiers to die for literally no reason if he could. I think the idea that he can kill people on a whim and suffer zero consequences… I think that feeling of power must be intoxicating for Trump.
I also think that part of the reason he’s been kicking all of the hornet’s nests around the world is that he wants to have an excuse to nuke somebody.

When Melania starts talking about Donald Trump’s empathy, as if he has a lot of it, the crowd starts laughing a little, and Melania can’t hold back her smile. Then, Donald smiles really big and gestures towards the crowd, which makes the crowd laugh more, and Melania smiles even bigger.
By the way, the empathy they were talking about was towards our soldiers who are risking their lives and even paying the price for Donald Trump’s stupidest war ever.

The only place I disagree with you is the idea that MAGA can be described as having this singular united motive at the time.
You have the grifters at the top who know it’s bullshit, but who have found a huge pool of the world’s easiest marks. You have a lot of genuine believers. You have a lot of people who don’t have any beliefs but who simply do as they’re told. You have a lot of people who are just trying to fit in. And you have a bunch of little Nazi wannabes who know everybody else is being grifted, but who either simply like hurting other groups of people, or they believe that they’ll eventually become the grifters.
With MAGA, like with most political groups, if you want a crowd of specific types, you just have to pick who is in the crowd.
He was the primary person who incited the insurrection on the day of January 6. He told a mob of angry Trump supporters that they had to fight or they wouldn’t have a country anymore.
But he’s gotten no real punishment for his actual crimes. His suffering now is of the sort that could happen to anybody, even if they lived the most virtuous life.
I know he’ll never face actual justice, but I’m personally not happy with this as a substitute.
