  • There’s too many words in this meme that’s making me dizzy from all your fancy science leechcraft, wizard.

I reject your reality and substitute my own: the feather falls faster. It’s more streamlined than the bowling ball, and thus it slips through the vacuum much faster and does hit the ground and stay on the ground, I think. The ball will bounce at least once, maybe even three times. On each bounce, parts of it probably break off, which change the weight. Thankfully those broken pieces won’t hurt anyone because they’re sucked up by the vacuum. Thus, rendering your dungeon wizard spells ineffective against me.

  • Since you said “up there for sure”, I guess that’s fine. My promise of riot has now simmered into measured acceptance.

Like you’re at a restaurant waiting for your food. A waiter comes by and you think it’s your order and you start to get excited, but they move in a slightly different angle from you which instantly alerts you that it’s not your order. So now you have to temper your reactions and pretend that you were not fooled that your order was coming to you. This leads to you carefully measuring your movements and reactions in the event someone in the restaurant was observing you, so as not to impress upon them that you, a stranger, were deceived and instead were merely adjusting your posture while you waited patiently. That’s the level of measured acceptance I have right now.

More seriously though - That’s a game I wanted to try out but never played. On my “next play” list I had Advance Wars on it, so I’ll toss FF Tactics on there to give it a go. I liked Fire Emblem on 3DS, and having not really played SRPGs before I did enjoy FE. Figure FF Tactics might be interesting and fun, so def will give it a go!

Imagine pulling up to McDonald’s after a shitty day at work and this asshole is working the window?

If you hand him cash or card, he’ll steal it and say the immigrants took your money and to ask Kamala why they keep letting this happen. By the time you get your meal, Trump would’ve taken a bite out of your burger and left poop smears inside the bag.

  • This was super awesome to check out. Pokémon was my childhood so it was great vicariously glimpsing what Pokémon Fever looked like in the 90s when Pokémon Yellow was about to release. I was young so I only remember tidbits, but I tried to keep as much merch as I could when I was young. I forgot about those bouncy balls with Pokémon figurines in them - I had a few but they’re long gone.

Thanks for sharing this because I never heard of this channel! Incidentally I love periodically browsing the Internet Archive and viewing old restored footage from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Fascinating to view a snapshot of real persons that are long dead and forgotten, imagining what the future would be like when they were gone.

Edit: Oh, a bot posted this. Well, thank you for your service! o7

  • Remember when all three of these companies used to be great 20 years ago? Such a shame how far they’ve fallen.

I’m playing Beyond Good & Evil on GameCube for the first time, and this game is an absolute gem. Makes me miss how great Ubisoft used to be. They started turning into hostile trash somewhere around ten years ago.

  • No tinfoil hat needed. Retail stores are equipped with bluetooth beacons that tracks and monitors customer behavior. This in turn can be sold for targeted advertising. Another scary thought is that the tracking is so precise, it measures the distance your phone is from a product, including height. How high is the phone from the ground? The data points can be extrapolated to influence product placement: what products and prices influenced a customer to bend down and look at/interact with the product? How long were they in close proximity with the product? Based on the phone’s orientation, were they bent down to look at or passing by the product (indicating that they stopped for a separate reason and not necessarily for the product)? Did they buy it? Were they looking for coupons in my “retail store app” while next to the product, or somewhere else in the store? Where do customers often stop or gather in order to browse through coupons? Could we place Y products there? Where should we put the product in stores to maximize sales? What ads can we send to them as they arrive at the store? Based on aggregated data with the rich profile we built for this customer, are they likely to sign up for our rewards credit card? What is this customer’s income level? Have they purchased X product recently? What part of town do they live in? What products are popular there? Et cetera ad nauseum.

Tracking is so predatory. Makes me look at my smart phone with disgust as the years go by, and I periodically grapple with the decision if a smart phone is even right for me or if it’s time to stick to a computer and a truly dumb phone going forward.

Some public info about Bluetooth beacons: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/06/14/opinion/bluetooth-wireless-tracking-privacy.html

Want to find Bluetooth beacons? Simply install a Bluetooth scanner app from your phone and head to a store to see them.

Here’s how Shopify engages businesses on how to utilize Bluetooth beacons with their software package. Bought anything online? That site was most likely powered by Shopify: https://www.shopify.com/retail/the-ultimate-guide-to-using-beacon-technology-for-retail-stores
