Would that be a disassociation?
Brain’s taking the joke too seriously and trying to imagine what divorcing yourself would entail

Wait, is it inherently bad for an artist to self-insert? Isn’t that one of the key ways they share their perspective? If there’s some bizarre strawman-ing or self-aggrandizing going on it can problematic but the general idea of an artist self-inserting themselves or their ideas into their work seems fine to me.
This was the discussion on a recent post, which seems to be deleted now, about “AI” art on beer cans in the Mildly Infuriating community.
It’s really upsetting how much art is now seen as AI looking when AI art only looks that way cause it was trained on great art. Anything stylized, slightly sepia, realistically shaded, etc etc, automatically assumed to be AI when some people have trained decades to develop this style themselves, but now it’s just slop style

Some kind of Indian dessert that was covered in gold leaf at a rich older family friends birthday. I had one out of curiosity but it didn’t add anything to the experience except sadness at the waste

And these scientists are sure as hell gonna work on answering them with that freaky deaky nose

They actually get into this in the other panels that aren’t posted. Having trouble finding non-reddit links to it though https://www.reddit.com/r/theotherendcomics/s/9X4C16J7yi
Also, not very experienced adding photos from my phone to comments but trying to attach screenshots

Good luck! Mint was my first distro too and still the one I use most, everything just works how I want and yeah, so much faster than Windows

🐧

Honestly, yeah.
So much media is very “of the moment” and built up through marketing. For whatever reason, a show, a song, a movie, a game, whatever, gets a lot of hype built up around it, but some time goes by and poof, no one cares. That’s part of what was in my head when I made this post. When given a bit of time and space from whatever circumstances of its initial release, what shows still stand out?

Heard nothing but good things about Ted Lasso as well so I think this one is now on my list, thanks!
Schitt’s Creek I think I tried to watch way back but don’t think I even got through the first episode for the reason you just said, couldn’t stand the characters.

I love me some Sci-Fi but yeah, the fact that it’s Star Wars had me ignoring this one despite all the amazing reviews and hype. Is Andor still enjoyable without having seen anything but the first six movies and the first two of the sequels? I know it’s closely linked with Rogue One and I didn’t watch that either. Still recommendable with that little knowledge of the current expanded universe?
I disagree on the smart watches, but I know I’m in the minority in how I use them. They actually help me disconnect from my phone better because only select apps send notifications to my watch, so if I get a vibration on my wrist, I check, see if it needs action or not, then move on with my life. In my work I often get messages that need immediate action, but I’m often in situations where I can’t be distracted in the moment, so smart watches have been super helpful.
As for all the fitness features or app control, etc. etc, I don’t really care. It’s nice that I can control my music, I played around with using it as a remote for my camera, but really, all I need is good, controlled notifications on my wrist for ambient awareness.
Pebble watches have always been the best and I’m eagerly awaiting my Pebble Time 2
Definitely agree on the bulbs though. Having color control or a dimmer is great but doesn’t need to be an app.

I believe it’s essentially the “Black Lives Matter” /“All Lives Matter” situation. Yes, we are striving for equality, but the movements are worded to highlight those who are most affected/disenfranchised by the status quo.
Woman gets it when she’s talking about the movement that applies specifically to her disenfranchisement, but not when she’s in the “out” group of a rights movement

I second this. Been using their Nova 3 model for a good long while now and love it, been telling people it’s one of my favorite tech purchases ever. Running android and being able to sideload things is a gamechanger for e-readers.
Check out the channel My Deep Guide on YouTube for in depth reviews of the latest Onyx Boox offerings and how they compare to others though before you buy, apparently some weirdness in their newest model

I don’t feel like nobody can understand my POV. I grew up moving country to country and my classmates growing up led similar lives and probably had similar POVs. It was only in college that I realized most people lived their whole childhoods in one city, not counting vacations.
I think you’d be interested in looking into the concept of “Third Culture Kids”. I think the original book may be a bit outdated and lack some of the complexity of modern globalization, but it definitely made me realize a lot of things about myself when I read the book the first time way back.
Found a 2021 reddit post as well
But I feel like I saw this first on imgur back in the mid 2010’s. Might be getting things mixed up though

Wow, I legit almost forgot about dat boi

What’s your favorite piece of media and why?

Did none of them watch M3gan???
Wasn’t a huge fan of the move to 3D animation but it wasn’t all bad. Movies like The Mitchell’s VS The Machines and Klaus show that 3D animation can have a ton of soul and style. Think the problem is most corporate studios just failing at making good stories / art most of the time in pursuit of the lowest common denominator.
That said, fuck AI slop. Soulless by definition
