  • “Has the largest” meaning a 3 comment average per thread. That’s what the OC is talking about. The communities in Lemmy World are really small in a way that makes it hard to hold together a sub. A new movie comes out and maybe one or two people talk about it on Lemmy while Reddit has hundreds.

Then you might say, be the change you want to see, but Lemmy has a pretty small install base. Even if you participate, there isn’t anyone to follow, because the users here are usually white collar tech folk. Hence the interest groups being tech and politics.

  • Is that Rockstar’s track record now? I remember RDR2 releasing in a pretty stable condition. Regardless, bugs or no, I think people deep into gaming usually see the most important parts as what the gameplay is shaping up to be. So that would be, how has the driving changed, is there more thought and effort put into the non-violent side-content, how intractable is the world and to what degree is the world responsive? Stuff like that. The folks I usually listen to are mostly on that track since graphics are generally irrelevant now and the story is… Gonna be a Rockstar story, and won’t be anywhere near GTA IV, so it’s not that exciting.

It sucks, but GTA is one of our last tentpole entertainment products. I understand people being a little excited to participate, and that also means the corps milking it for every last cent. The Netflix thing makes sense in the same way superbowl commercials make sense. And it does look like this is supposed to be the big gameplay showcase, so wanting to tune in as a gaming insider also tracks. It is what it is.

  • I like to think I was banned for similar reasons, but I’m pretty sure it was because I was commenting in a gatcha subreddit that was really circling the drain regarding taste. Folk were putting up questionable images of questionable body types and I was getting annoyed that the game was falling so far. Got banned for calling a spade a spade. Ironically, the sub was banned shortly after.

Thankfully I cant have the same issue here because all the niche interest communities are dead, lmao!

  • Not to defend this too much (misogyny and racism are popular pastimes in the states and I do think Kamala being a black woman was a factor in her losing), but Biden would have lost her race too. People that say Kamala’s bad stance on Isreal and dearth of big ticket items cost her the election might be pushing it a little, because it wasnt just one thing, but she was weak in those areas and it definitely cost her votes. Could a different strategy have flipped the states she needed? Who knows. It’s just not a wise strategy to blame everything on prejudice because doing so completely erases your ability to ever get someone other than a white male elected.
