You could think that, but the only reason historical cities built tight and dense was 1. lack of transportation and 2. lack of space. Since the US is much younger with neither of those issues, you see people spread out. It’s why the American ‘dream’ is home and land. But that means to get places you need transportation, and since everything is so spread out, it would be next to impossible fiscally to have adequate and speedy public transportation.

A lot of place around the world aren’t as large as the US either. It’s not as simple as ‘fuckcars’ would make you believe.

Houston it’s taken 50 years with few regulations and while better is still very car centric.

Depends where you live and how that area is designed. In much of the US unfortunately public transportation isn’t even an option or is an option that is so slow or so expensive it isn’t affordable. Vehicles may not be either, but that’s not how many people see it.

Speaking of opposite experience, absolutely. Even if you lock it down, high likelihood of getting stolen, especially if left overnight, and if it’s a ‘high value’ bike, especially an e-bike.

Meh, in so many places (in the US) you would need to flatten the entire city and start from the ground up to make no parking and instead here is public transportation that would work. That’s the unfortunate world we live in. Or because of how public transportation so often works, you spend the ‘poor’ tax of so much more time getting places. Oh need to get to work that is five miles away? it’s 1 hour each way by public transportation, or 20 minutes by car with traffic.

Its certainly easier to download it and search for it at home than it is to go to the library. They both have their uses, but Kiwix is pretty awesome.

You can easily self host it with Kiwix, runs in a docker, and you just point it at the latest version of Wikipedia (you can download everything or just text). Then when you want to update the Wikipedia, just download the new version.

That seems pretty common for super popular shows. Like there are only so many seasons needed, and instead of keeping things tidy and ending the show, they extend with seasons that don’t fit and really ruin the overall show. Both Parks and Rec and Office did it.

I think it’s less about US media propaganda and more that the EU put large tariffs on Chinese EV imports which stopped that. In Germany specifically thought, there is a lot of German brand loyalty as well, which is a factor. It’s more of the PHEVs that are Chinese imports because those have lower tariffs.

Not necessarily a bad thing but could have some unforeseen repercussions.

They were, but EU placed high import taxes on Chinese EVs to counter this, so I think in places like Germany (which is a county that’s pretty brand loyal), Chinese EVs only make up 10% of all EV sales.

Many people do those same things for the attention and acceptance of others around them. I’d say more people do that when it comes to things like make up and dressing well. Human are social creatures and want to be accepted by others.

These days, you could spend 30+ minutes writing a thoughtful reply and deliberately avoid argumentative tone and words, only to be accused of using or being an AI.

Because unfortunately that’s how people are sourcing so much of their ‘facts’. And it’s even easier for them to simply copy and past the AI generated result rather than to learn and investigate.

But then again, even if say ‘you’ are wrong, or your mind has been changed, are you really going to go in and update your comment, or actually let the person know? Probably not.
