- I used to be very religious, now I am an atheist.
- I used to be a fiscal conservative, now I am a proponent of UBI and other democratic socialist ideas.
- I use to think that you needed to eat a lot of protein with every meal, now I follow a whole food plant based diet
- I use to be (arguably) a nymphomaniac…sex addict for sure…and now I am super chill and treat sex as a means towards emotional closeness rather than an Olympic competition.

I’m pretty sure nobody wanted to watch Pulaski get down with a ghost looking like a 1980’s public school teacher.

14·3 days agoTNG is my Star Trek of choice. It’s an extremely unpopular opinion but I liked Dr. Pulaski a lot more than Dr. Crusher. In fact, Crusher is my least favorite main character in TNG. I think the reason people didn’t like Dr. Pulaski was that damned hair style they gave her. It made her stiff and unapproachable.

politics @lemmy.world•U.S. House ethics panel launches investigation into Rep. Tony Gonzales’ alleged affair with staffer who died
17·3 days agoThe level of sanitizing the media is doing to this story is disgusting. The Texas Tribune is the only one doing a fairly decent job, and it still is fairly delicate.
Let’s recap this “affair”:
- Her husband cheats on her with her best friend.
- The rep hardcore sexually harasses her, did not stop after she complained and eventually gets her to shack up for an afternoon
- Her husband finds out so he takes her phone, impersonates her to start a group text chat including the rep and all his wife’s coworkers, and confronts the rep about fucking his wife
- In response she is ostracized and bullied by her coworkers
- She kills herself by setting herself on fire.
For his part, this piece of shit man used his position of power and his knowledge of her personal situation to get in her pants.

19·3 days agoLook at this picture.

To the left we have a man that looks like he’s looking forward to chocolate pudding night at the home, and to the right we have an incredibly sleazy looking man who actually doesn’t look nearly as sleazy as he actually is.
Somehow people still wonder why voter turnout in Texas is so incredibly low.

Jokes aside though, we have to use Windows 10 iot VMs and VDIs to connect to secure production environments due to our clients’ corporate policies. Currently we host and sandbox the VMs on Linux servers in order to ensure the integrity of our interactions with the client systems. How the fuck arebwe supposed to do that in the future when the VM’s OS is constantly chatting with a third party?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a TV series that you really, really liked and would enthusiastically recommend?
10·4 days agoOK. It’s a French animation studio that wanted to give their show a distinctively European feel. It makes sense that they would pull aesthetic inspiration from European graphic novels.
Disco Elysium is one of the greatest video games ever made, and its aesthetics pull heavily from European graphic novels. It’d be a shame to miss out one either because you feel their art style is inspired by previous works.
If you do decide to watch Arcane, do not binge it. It is meant to be consumed three episodes at a time. My recommendation to anyone reading this is to watch three episodes per day.
Season 2 is rushed jut Season 1 is perfect.

1·4 days agoI have the nationalities wrong as well. In the book the pilot (Blackthorne) is british, sailing for the Dutch, in a clandestine mission against the Portuguese.
What I noted about the languages in the show was correct though. English = Portuguese.

Portuguese sailorEnglish pilot sailing for the Dutch against the Portuguese. Only two languages are spoken in the story, Japanese and Portuguese. Whenever you hear someone speaking in English, they are speaking Portuguese in the story.EDIT: I got that wrong.

46·4 days ago- A&E’s Nero Wolfe
- Agatha Christie’s Poirot (with David Suchet)
- The Expanse
- Star Trek: TNG
- Fleabag (season 2 is a masterpiece, and I don’t throw that word around)
- For All Mankind
- Archane (season 1 is another masterpiece)
- Penny Dreadful (it dips in quality in the later seasons, but worth it for the Frankenstein’s monster story alone)
EDIT:
- Coupling (UK) - Thr first two seasons
- Keeping Up Appearances
- IT Crowd

So…devastatingly handsome?
