Technology@lemmy.world•More Americans now support banning phones all day at school, not just in classEnglish
3·15 days agoDevil’s advocate take: was the phone app the only way to ease your anxiety, or was it just an option that was recommended due to the trend of trying to have our phone do everything?

21·24 days agoThe best way to “stand up for yourself” when a company that sells a luxury product is to not buy said product. In which case this tariff nonsense doesn’t affect you. More people were affect by the increase in the cost of groceries and gas than the cost of a Switch 2.

311·25 days agoIMO I think it’s weird to focus specifically on Nintendo. The American government basically screwed over its populace and a ton of foreign companies (less sympathy for the former though). I don’t think it’s realistic to expect these companies to reimburse companies, because logistically it’d be a nightmare. The only way I can imagine consumers getting their money back is if the government used the tarrif money to pay a portion of the federal income tax for its citizens, ideally the lower tax vracket. Unfortunately that won’t happen.

I tried the same user, and it worked for me just now. Thanks for working on this project!
Just fyi, I tried one your instance. Searched a user, clicked a result, and got an error.

2·2 months agoImproved hardware capabilities used to come very quickly (see Moore’s Law and Dennard Scaling). However that trend is basically over, so getting higher performance hardware takes a lot of effort to make hardware specialized for certain tasks. That’s why you see there inference accelerators like Groq, SambaNova, Cerebrus, etc. However this is hardware that still is gonna go into data centers. Something innovative has to happen on the AI side for commercial-grade models to be runnable on consumer hardware.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•On what specific episode does your favorite "I swear it eventually gets really good" television show actually start turning around?English
2·3 months agoThis is how I feel about it. I remember loving it when it was first airing. I did a rewatch a couple years back and couldn’t stand it. Can’t say I like a single character outside of Andy.
Correct me if this is naive, but wouldn’t this potentially also reduce the diversity of the gene pool?
Depends on the nature of the project. Is it a pure software project or is it a physical device + platform? Is anything implemented yet?
Agree to disagree. I cook with EVOO all the time, and it does not taste bitter to me (and I regular cook with avocado oil, so I have a comparison point). It’s not “wasteful” if you buy a Costco sized bottle of their cheaper stuff. Yeah, don’t use your artisinal EVOO to fry something up. Kirkland brand EVOO is perfectly fine for frying and finishing, dressings, etc.
This is something that is repeated a lot, but it is simply not true. No, you shouldn’t use it for high heat cooking. However you can definitely sweat onions and do other low-mid temp cooking. If your oil doesn’t smoke when it hits the pan, then you’re fine. I cook with EVO every day.

I prefer much oatmeal much less loose. I do a 1:3 ratio of oats to water and cook it in the rice cooker using the timer function so I can set it up the night before I eat it. The texture I get is much more “clumpy” than liquidy like this.
I suppose it depends on your definition of open world, but areas are basically only connected through the hub world, i.e. the castle area. There is virtually nothing to do in the world other than fight the colossi. It’s a great game, and certainly influential in its own right. However for better or for worse, I don’t really think it fits the mold of a modern open world game, and that’s specifically what BotW reimagined.
I mean, the similarities kind of begin and end with a character that can climb, use a sword, and ride a horse. SotC isn’t even open-world.
