They don’t even have to use unconventional routes to remove judges from the SCOTUS, all they have to do is impeach. ‘But, they don’t have the numbers in the Senate!’, once a few congressmen fall out windows, everyone else will rubber stamp whatever else the GOP wants, to include impeaching leftist judges and expelling leftist congressmen who don’t fall in line.
The first members of the administration, Congress, or the SC who aren’t faithful enough will be the ones who ‘commit suicide by throwing themselves out their hotel windows’, the rest will rubber stamp any and every maga law, to include anything that would prevent him from being president for life, like his buddy Putin.
Remember, with doublespeak they’ll continue* to blame the democrats while their Republican leaders dismantle their rights, the economy, and the government right in front of their eyes.
The shitty thing is, the long lines are by design. Election officials are regularly closing polling locations in inner cities because ‘they don’t have the funding to keep so many open’, when the state government chooses not to fund them. Rural areas have always had quick in-and-out voting merely due to how many people they’re providing for. While increasing the wait times at inner city polling places causes some voters to either not get the chance to vote because either they’re not allowed to at some point, or the extra votes aren’t sent up because they were too late… or it causes people to go home instead of wait in the freezing cold ass line for 4-6 hours. Some people were complaining about 8 hour lines that year.
They cheat to win however they can.
I remember rushing home, changing out of my uniform and jumping in line at the local library… and I stood there for like 4-6 hours in the freezing cold. Rosario Dawson, the actress, actually came by with donuts, back before the republicans outlawed providing food and water to people in voting lines. I actually took a picture of my wife with her, she was so kind. My wife and I were taking turns hiding in the car to stay warm, and saving a place in line. I couldn’t believe how cold and how long the line was. The shitty thing was that it was also extremely windy, the cold bit hard.
This was Atlanta, GA probably for the Biden/Trump election in 2020. I’ve voted early ever since, I walk in and out within like 15 minutes now. I’m not doing 4-6 hour lines ever again.
Edit: poll workers actually came out and designated someone as the last voter, and we stayed in line well past the normal close time. But, they had to get the last person who showed up before close.
But, even those literal statements can be said to be hyperbole. So, the words themselves don’t really matter, outside of the fact that taken as a whole, including everything together, he is inciting violence against his political enemies and minorities with dog whistling. So, yes… he is threatening them.
Edit: it’s like those ‘let’s fight! Fight like hell!’ montages made of both parties during the last 10 years. For the vast majority of them the Dems clearly meant peaceful but coordinate protest, marching* and voting. Now, the Republicans may have wanted us to infer that it’s the same thing as Dems, but they continued to lay on the hate, attacks, and violent rhetoric without condemning the actual and literal violent behavior. The attempts to kidnap that democratic governor. Taking over that state capital building with threat of violence. Storming the US capital which led to the deaths of multiple officers and a violent insurrectionist.
Republicans are playing in bad faith and are both refusing to condemn violent actors (‘good people on both sides’, ‘standby and stand up’ or whatever that one was) are absolutely apologizing and watering down, enabling that and further behavior.
Taking these ridiculous comments of Trump’s without the context behind them, singling them out and reading them strictly in the ‘neutral’ voice you’re advocating for… entirely strips it of the dog whistling that it is.
With a mindset like that you’d also say that ‘Trump didn’t literally tell his supporters to storm Congress on J6’ or ‘Trump isn’t actively exciting violence against democrats and immigrants’, and sure on the face value of most of what he says he isn’t exactly doing that. But, he knows what he’s saying, he has seen plenty of examples of this dog whistling of his getting the violent results he wants.
Each statement like this points his violent supporters in the direction of his preferred targets.
My wife, probably the year before last, got a fancy home made from scratch cake for her birthday from her fancy pastry chef friend. Well, she loved the thing so much she’d bring it out for dessert every night, the whole thing, and nibble on small bites until she had enough and put it back in the fridge. Savoring each night and bite. Well, she should have taken a small cut from it each night, leaving the remainder in the fridge, and nibbled on that. Anyway, live and learn. By the end of the week she finished off the cake… and got thoroughly sick over the weekend.
I couldn’t help but laugh a little at the absurdity of the situation, but I felt so bad for her. It was an amazing cake, but yeah. If you’re going to savor something like that, please cut a portion out each night instead of taking it out and putting it back after about 30-45 minutes nightly.
I mean, do you see his old ass running for President… a fourth time? He’ll be 86, right? He’s already had a huge mental decline, and we’re liable to see it get worse over the next four years (regardless of whether or not he becomes President).
